Are there any bars that come down to the sub frame from the fire wall

Yes, if you look in the picture there are 2 bars with Heim Joints attached, they go to the supplied bulk head connectors and then to the sub frame assembly. Attached to this answer is a copy of the instructions for you to look at that explains the installation of the unit.
