A Chevy 265 has the same bolt pattern as other small blocks. Why would the starter mount not work for them?
Engine Starter Mount Plate
I have a MerCruiser where the engine-mounted starter mounting tabs are broken, so I'm looking into the H&H starter mount plate as a possible alternate way to mount the starter to save a perfectly good running engine. I believe I have confirmed a Chevy 265 V8 has the same bolt pattern as 305 or a MerCruiser 5.0---or any other Chevy small block. What would prevent the starter mount plate kit from working for these other small block applications? If the mount plate would mechanically line up and mount the starter, I think we could deal with any other installation details to make it work. Has anyone tried this? Thanks very much in advance for any information you might be able to provide.

It would not work, because it designed to work a stock 265 starter that bolts, horizontal and not vertical.
